Message from the school Chairman
Mr. Joseph Gathonga
Hello, after a successful academic year 2024. Allow me to reflect on many achievements and experiences that we have shared over the year. Firstly I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our parents for their continued support and involvement in our day to day school activities. Their partnership with the school staff has been invaluable in fostering a nurturing and stimulating environment where our students have thrived both academically and personally. Our pupils too have shown resilience, excelling in innovative projects and any initiatives they have undertaken throughout the year by demonstrating creativity, critical thinking and teamwork. Our dedicated teachers and staff have worked tirelessly to provide high quality education and support to all students. This has been through their commitment to professional development and passion for their work that has led to our pupils receiving the best possible education and support. We also had the pleasure of numerous development projects here in school from improving our modern kitchen and dining hall, equipping our computer laboratories with more computers. The experiences for sure have enriched our school community hence fostering a sense of unity and pride among students, staff and parents alike. Looking ahead we are committed to continuous improvement as already we are planning several new initiatives aimed at further enhancing our curriculum, facilities, environment and support services for better and efficient service delivery. To our very supportive friends from the UK salute for the tremendous support.

Merry Christmas and a happy new year-2025.
Message from the Director
Welcome to the 22nd edition of Angaza magazine. A dream that started 22 year ago andis still going on.
Allow me to thank our UK supporters, my administration, my good teachers who have been very supportive and our support staff. I can’t thank you enough for the effort and commitment you give to make our school shine as our magazine theme “Angaza” says.
This year has been quite aneconomically challenging year with its ups and downs but we are optimistic that next year will be a promising year. As a school we took several strides in the establishment of a junior secondary school. JSS wing has attracted several new parents in the school and we are optimistic that next year will also be a promising year in anticipation of enrolling Grade 9 that will be the examination class in JSS wing.
I was privileged to visit the UK this year and I was happy to meet friends and new faces that I had not met before thanks to Rosemary and Jim. While in UK I participated in several activities that made my visit busy and exciting. Notably Horbury show, a dragon boat competition in Wakefield but it was very cold and I was freezing but thank God Rosemary and Jim had given me a warm fleece, I was helping Nick On a canal boat which I really enjoyed opening and closing lochs .I, participated in the open air gardensas well as in rotary meeting. I visited two primary schools that support our school namely St Peters and Farnley Tyas.I interacted with both teachers and students in both schools and I was able to show a video of our school and how it operates which we realized was quite different from schools in the UK.

I was also privileged to sit on the Emley African education trustees meeting and I learnt a lot from the meeting.
I was happy we were also able to visit Wales which I realized had very a different language and I had to be very keen when talking to a Welsh person. What crowned my tripwas the longest name I have ever come across. {Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogertchwyrndrobwilllantysiliogogogoch}up to now I keep asking how it came about.Michael pronouncedit but to be honest I could only get go go go. I gave up!, not all was lost though since I was able to learn some welsh names like Ysgol, meaning school Araf,Heddlu etc. which were very prominent. The climax of my many meetings and activities which cannot all be mentioned here were the cooking lessons that I was privileged to have and learn from Rosemary while Jim was cheering us to do more. It was such an exciting time.
I really thank everyone who participated in making my trip such an exciting and memorable one.
During my visit I shared my dreams with Rosemary and Jim to start a day care class in the school that would cater for young kids aged between two and three years. They were impressed and we later shared the same with the trustees during our meeting. We bought a lot of toys for the class realizing they would be of a good quality in the UK when comparing to what we have in Kenya and I can report while flying back to Kenya I had a suitcase full of toys and to my surprise I passed the Kenyan customs with no questions which had been our worry.
Thank you UK friends led by Rosemary and Jim for letting all this happen.
We ended the year well with anticipation of a good and successful 2025 in our school.
God bless all of us and our school to flourish even further.
Just an appeal to all our UK supporters and others tonot tire doing well for the benefit of the less privileged in society and an appeal for more support financially, support a needy child in school or supporting any other program in school in the future.
God bless all.
Allow me to wish you all a Merry Christmas and happy New Year 2025!
Harrison Kamere

Time to HAVE FUN
The old wise man.
An old man visits a doctor to seek treatment for the severe pain he has in his right leg. The doctor tells him that the pain is due to his age and that nothing can be done about it. The old man gets angry and questions the doctor’s ability and expertise. When the doctor asks him why he feels that he is incapable, the old man replies that his left leg is as old as the right leg, but it has no pain at all.

Sandwiches
Two best friends who add up as lawyers go to a restaurant and order for cold drinks. After they were served they both take out sandwiches from their bags and start eating them. Looking at them eat, the waiter comes to their table and tells them that it’s not allowed to eat their own sandwiches in the restaurant. Both friends look at each other, smile and then exchange their sandwiches and continue eating. Waiter lacks words, stress and walks away.

The cats and the monkey
Two cats were fighting for a piece of bread. A clever monkey seeing the debacle, split the bread into two pieces to be shared equally between them. The cats agreed but one piece was bigger than the other after splitting the bread. He took a bite from the bigger piece to make it equal but this time the other piece was bigger. This went on for a while until, in the end, the monkey ate up the whole bread. The monkey went home leaving two hungry, angry cats.

Message from Rosemary Donnan
This is a short message this year as we did not make the long journey to Kenya this year but instead brought Harrison to the UK.
Fundraising is getting very hard nowadays and we decided that our main fundraiser at Horbury Show was to be our last in 2024. The Rotary Club have handed the show to the Hospice. We will still sell books at the spring fayre and open gardens.
At this moment in time Jim and I are looking forward to returning to Kenya in March. I am looking forward to seeing the finished Junior High School full of pupils and the new baby class enjoying the toys Harrison took out. Our suitcases are already full of more toys mainly jigsaws and I managed to get a set of football shirts for both the girls and boys team.
I will update everyone on our return.
May I wish you all a very Happy 2025.
Rosie
